NEW ELF EXHIBITION TRAILER
|
In November ELF took the keys to a new Exhibition Trailer supplied by Marco Trailers of Newhaven who supply the exhibition units used by the Red Arrows display team amongst many others. The hand-over took place at the Devon Driver Centre at Westpoint, part of Devon County Council, who provide driver training for many situations.
Accepting the keys to the unit Sarah Davies, ELF Fundraising Officer, said "ELF is fortunate to receive so many invitations to attend a wide range of outdoor events throughout the year. Up to now we have had to beg and borrow suitable equipment and when the weather is adverse that equipment can get damaged. This trailer means that we have the tools to present a very professional image reflecting the work done by the Consultants and Staff at the Haematology Centre so much better."
The Exhibition Unit is a Marco X25, a 2.5m by 2.0m unit on a single axle chassis giving an overall road length of 4.1m, height of 2.4m and a gross weight of 1300Kg. It opens out to provide a total area of 6 sq. metres on two levels with the outer area covered by a canopy which winds out from the trailer. Skirts and groundsheet make the outside area waterproof. Equipped with a flat screen, VCR and sound system the unit easily adapts to suit any situation simply by changing the display.
Stuart Marsom of Marco Trailers added "I am delighted to work with Exeter Leukaemia Fund. My Father started the business in Newhaven some forty years ago. So we are a long established family business. I am proud that since the early days of boat trailers and other relatively simple products, the company has developed into one of Britain’s foremost specialists in state-of-the-art mobile exhibition units and special purpose bodies."
"We are delighted to have worked with a number of charities as well as ELF including Marie Curie, the Samaritans and St John Ambulance."
"Helping clients to interact with their customers and communities in all kinds of situations both in the UK and abroad is Marco’s strength underpinned by unchanging principles of quality, safety and customer satisfaction, upon which the business has been built."
ELF Drivers, Francis Aldridge, Emma Hay and Malcolm Roker had their trailer-towing skills put to the test on a course run by the Devon Driver Centre. Martyn Gould of the Devon Driver Centre said "I cannot emphasise enough how important driver training is, not just for towing trailers but in all aspects of roadcraft on today’s over-crowded roads.”
